Any Rock Identifier helps you identify rocks, crystals, gemstones, minerals and fossils from a single photo — and, just as importantly, helps you confirm the answer for yourself.

What makes us different

Most identifier tools hand you one confident answer every time — even when the specimen is genuinely ambiguous. We think that's the wrong approach. Our identifier reports an honest confidence score, lists alternatives when a stone has look-alikes, and always gives you concrete at-home tests (streak, hardness, magnetism, acid fizz) so you can verify the result rather than just trust it.

A field guide, not just a tool

Behind the identifier we're building an in-depth reference library: how each mineral forms, its diagnostic properties, its common look-alikes, and how to tell real from fake. The goal is to be the most genuinely useful rock and crystal resource on the web — not a thin wall of filler.

Our safety stance

We deliberately identify only rocks, crystals, gems, minerals and fossils. We do not identify mushrooms, plants, wildlife or anything where a wrong answer could put someone in danger. Identifications are for educational purposes, and we always recommend confirming an important result with a qualified expert.
